Reproductive Health Branch

Reproductive health addresses the reproductive processes, functions and system at all stages of life. It should be looked at through a life cycle approach as it affects both men and women from infancy to old age.

STRATEGIC INTERVENTIONS 
The unit coordinate the following Reproductive Health Programmes:

  • Safe motherhood 
  • Adolescent  Reproductive Health development 
  • Prevention and Treatment of Reproductive Tracts infections 
  • Prevention and management of the complication of abortion
  • Prevention and management of infertility and sexual dysfunction in both men and women
  • Screening for reproductive tract cancer such as Breast, prostrate and cervix .and management of Reproductive conditions associated with Andropause  and Menopause
  • Family planning
  • Gender and Female Genital Mutilation(FGM)

SOME MAJOR PROGRAMME ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Organizing Training for Health workers on RH related skills to promote provision of quality services Life Saving Skills training for Nurses Midwife, expanded Life Saving Skills for Doctors, Training in family planning.
  • Provision of supportive monitoring and Supervision of health workers on RH services in the State.
  • Supply of the equipment and materials to Health facilities
  • Prevention and elimination of harmful practices
