Pharmaceutical Services Department

The Department of Pharmaceutical Services came into existence with the commencement of operation of the management committee of State Primary Health Care Development Board on the 24th of February, 2017. The board itself had earlier been established in May, 2016.

It is responsible for:

1. Designing and facilitating the quantification, selection and procurement of essential drugs in all Primary Health Care in the state                                                              

2. Ensuring the availability, security and potency of essential drugs and other consumables in all Primary Health Care.            

3. Supporting of LGAs in capacity building for stores and drugs management.                                            

4 Coordinating all state logistics working group activities.

5. Ensuring that state adopts and adheres to the approved national essential drug list for Primary Health Care level

6. Supporting the LGAs in appropriating pricing of drugs and commodities.                              

7. Ensuring vaccines/commodities are available and they are transported in good quality to LGAs and ultimately to health facilities.

NAME OF DIRECTOR- Pharm. Olaolu Adebowale

Has a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree in 1986 from the University of Ife, and a Fellow of the College of Pharmacy (Consultant 2008).

He has worked with the State Hospital Osogbo/Adeoyo Ibadan in 1987; General Hospital Lagos between 1990 and 1991 as Pharmacist GD 1; Local Government Service Commission between 2003 and 2018 and Director of Pharmaceutical Services, State Primary Health Care Development from 2018 till date.

 

NAME OF DEPUTY DIRECTOR- Pharm. Temitayo Akintaro

Obtained a B. Pharm from Obafemi Awolowo University in 1998. Has worked with the State Hospital Management Board between 2003 and 2017 and now the State Primary Health Care Board, Kelebe Osogbo from 2017 to date.
